I have had the privilege and pleasure, (apart from a short break), of representing Durrington Ward on Worthing Borough Council since 2010.
I have been a member of a number of committees including The Overview and Scrutiny, and The Licensing Committee. Also, I have had the great honour of being elected Deputy Mayor, and then Mayor of the Borough of Worthing.
This is a very privileged position allowing “one” to experience all aspects of the town, and the many organisations and groups, who carry out such valuable work for the town and citizens.
Apart from my role as a Councillor, I have many other interests in Worthing. I am a member of The Worthing Twinning Association, which works to engender good relations with our twinning partners in France and Germany.
I am a member of The Worthing Society, which aims to preserve and enhance as much possible, the historical architecture within the town.
I am a Trustee on the Board of South Downs Leisure, which manages and maintains the sports facilities in Worthing, including the Leisure Centre in Shaftesbury Avenue, and Splashpoint Swimming Pool.
The A27 By-Pass not Through Pass is another group to which I belong, as I feel it is essential that Worthing, as the largest town in West Sussex, has through traffic removed from within its boundaries. Among the benefits of a By-Pass will be an improvement in our air quality.
I also supported the recent campaign to make Titnore Lane safer for pedestrians, and smaller vehicles.
My top priorities for Durrington ward are:
1. Resident’s concerns.
2. A27 By Pass.
3. Green Spaces.
4. Titnore Lane improvement.
5. Public Safety.
